Project: A Garden of Mouthings
< view all projects 'A Garden of Mouthings' was inspired by the wonderful shapes of a natural honey bee hive, the vital importance of our pollinators, the dance of the 'bonker bees' and a poem by Sylvia Plath. The undulating structure made of nomex honeycomb and reclaimed redwood is installed on the hill above the garden of old roses in the UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley. Visitors are invited to linger, sit on the hexagonal cast concrete seats seemingly dripping with honey, listen to the sounds of Rimsky Korsakov and Sylvia Plath and read about some of our most common native bees. |
